How to Put Ice in a Bong Without Spilling Water

A little care when adding ice keeps water where it belongs and helps prevent cubes from getting jammed in the neck.

1. Get the water level right: Fill the chamber until the downstem or perc slits are covered, but leave room for splashes.
2. Drop in a few cubes: Feed dry ice cubes gently through the mouthpiece instead of tossing them in.
3. Check the ice catcher: Make sure the cubes rest on the pinched glass notches.

If you’d rather skip adding ice, glycerin pipes can be pre-chilled in the freezer. Their glycerin-filled coils help cool the smoke without needing ice cubes or topping them up mid-session.
