When vaping dry herb, you will need a specific dry herb vaporizer to handle the material. You can find portable and desktop vaporizers that are compatible with dry herb, and some brands are even multifunctional, supporting both dry herb and other substances, such as wax.
Desktop vaporizers are considerably more expensive than portable vaporizers, but they can handle larger loads at a time. These vaporizers are ideal for sharing in a group setting. Some desktop vaporizers will have multiple whips for two or more friends to vape at the same time.
Portable vaporizers are a great option for single or on-the-go users. These vaporizers are easily concealable and aren’t very difficult to operate. Portable dry herb vaporizers will vaporize herb either using a convection or conduction style method. Convection works like an oven to heat the herb using hot air. Conduction uses coils to heat the herb, but poses more of a risk of accidental combustion when the herb comes in direct contact with the coil. (Read more here!)
No matter which type you choose, grinding the herb evenly and sufficiently is essential for complete use of the herb within the device. Pieces of varying sizes will vaporize unevenly, and only the outside of the larger pieces will vaporize, leaving the insides untouched.
Remember to perform regular cleaning and maintenance on your dry herb vaporizers to keep them in top shape. Residue from the herb can build up on the inside of the device, altering the flavor of the vapor and preventing the heating mechanisms from working as well.
Grinding your herb and operating a clean device will give you a great sesh, every time!
