Honeycomb, Inline, Tree, Showerhead, and more!
This is a type of disk perc that looks like a honeycomb. More diffusion than a standard disk perc because of the number of small holes that let further divide the smoke that passes through them. The more holes the better the diffusion.
A fairly simple perc shaped like a showerhead, slits or holes are placed to shoot smoke downwards. The showerhead perc is the vertical tube that flairs out at the bottom, with slits or holes for diffusion.
The Stereo perc, also known as a matrix perc, is a gridded series of slits in a matrix style design. The slits usually run completely around the perc and allow for 360 degree diffusion through the water.
An inline perc is a horizontal tube with gridded slits cut around and under the tube. These classic percs offer great diffusion without sacrificing for airflow.
True to it's name, the tree percolator is a perc with a tree-like arm of glass tubes come down and sit inside the water. Smoke is diffused through it's many arms.
A swiss percolator is a unique style of perc named for its resemblance to swiss cheese. Swiss percs take the form of large "swiss hole" filled discs built into the body of a pipe. These percs function to let smoke and water pass around the holes, filtering and cooling your smoke for a super smooth hit. Check out our Swiss Perc Sweetness article for an in-depth examination of the mighty percolator!
Cyclone percs (or turbine percs) are discs with angled cuts around the sides. When water is pulled through them, it's forced to spin in a cyclone fashion creating a whirlpool effect. That's why they've earned the name of cyclones or "turbines".
A diffused downstem is a simple glass tube that pushes the smoke down through the water. Smoke diffuses into the water through the downstems holes or slits.
Certain glass brands or artists will create custom percolators for their pieces. Such unique percs include those such as sprinkler percs, rachett discs, mushroom percs, geyser percs, and much more.
