USA Glass:

Made in Asheville NC

These clear coiled spoons from Totem Glass are made in the mountains of North Carolina, and feature colored accents depending on the variant you choose. Three accent dots that help keep the spoon from from rolling, as well as the true carb on the left hand side, are both worked in colored glass and match the floating ball that is trapped within the coil. This ball-like addition does not affect the function of the pipe but is merely for aesthetic purposes and will roll from either side of the piece as you tip it back and forth. If you're someone who prides themselves on a unique collection then this is the next piece for you!

About Spoons

A spoon is the common term for a style of hand pipe. Spoons are the quintessential hand pipe, and feature three main parts. A indent with a hole (this is where one packs their tobacco and loose herb) called the bowl, a carb or choke (lets in air to clear the smoke), and a neck to direct the smoke to the user.

How It's Made
Glass Spoon Pipes

Despite their straightforward nature, making hand pipes requires a large amount of training and experience. Glass artists start with a tube about four inches long and decorate it with a variety of techniques such as fuming, linework, etc. Next the artist starts to create the shape of the pipe by stretching the neck and forming the mouthpiece. The artist then carefully blows into the end of the tube to expand the glass and shape the bowl. They then push the bowl and pop the carb before placing it in the kiln to finish!

Features of this Spoon

We consider this piece to have thick glass, which helps with the durability of certain glass items.  Thick glass means your piece is less likely to break as a result of damage.  While many of our pieces have thick glass, we felt the need to point it out specifically here.
