"Appalachian Nightfall" Sherlock

How It's Made
Glass Spoon Pipes
Despite their straightforward nature, making hand pipes requires a large amount of training and experience. Glass artists start with a tube about four inches long and decorate it with a variety of techniques such as fuming, linework, etc. Next the artist starts to create the shape of the pipe by stretching the neck and forming the mouthpiece. The artist then carefully blows into the end of the tube to expand the glass and shape the bowl. They then push the bowl and pop the carb before placing it in the kiln to finish!

Features of this Sherlock
Haha Glass is the artistic vision of Becky Beardsley, a glassblower out of Asheville, North Carolina. Beardsley has been glassblowing under the name of Haha Glass for over 10 years, and she has garnered quite the respect from the Asheville community. She's even had the opportunity to collaborate with other artists in the area, including Shane Smith and Lindsay Hoyes. Haha Glass is usually recognizable for the tentacle and swirling shaped sherlocks and heady water pipes. Her pieces can also feature unique and bold color choices, and Beardsley herself is partially colorblind. Smoke Cartel is extremely proud for being able to supply such high-quality and absolutely gorgeous glass to our customers -- just being around our collection of Haha Glass is quite the treat.
